i have to get my hair cut every weak and a half because it grows to fast and i get 0.5 round the back and sides

I too have quick growing hair.

Although I believe the more your shave the more you need to shave theory for facial hair, this isn't true for the head of hair your talking about.

I used to shave my hair everyweek, as it would grow 3 inches in a week. To slow this down, what I do now, is shave the sides and back, but leave the top long.

I now have to cut the back and sides, monthly rather than weekly, so I am slowly slowing the process down. I have also noticed, winter increases the growth.

Hair is mostly made from protien,

if u eat lots of meat, eggs or nuts etc (things with large portions of protien) then your hair will grow depending on your intake.
