I got my hair really short and im sick of it, so now im growing it really long until i can choose a proper style.

I want long hair, with my fringe to one side

right now i got really short pony tails, with my fringe to one side.

but mum says i need it trimmed every couple of months but my hairdresser dosent know the meaning of trim!

she'll cut it all off and we'll be back to square one.

will it look okay if i keep growing it?

you can grow your hair out whether you get it or not but your hair shaft can split and your ends do get damaged from brushing styling etc. trimming your hair has nothing to do with the hair that grows from the roots. As for your hairdresser, explain to her you are trying to grow your hair long and show her holding your hair how much you want off, explain to her you don't want to chop it off like she usually does. If you're going to donate it, make sure you don't highlight it. They can't use highlighted hair because in the process they use to make it into wigs it ends up falling apart. Your hair has to stay natural color while growing it -- otherwise it's not worth it and you might as well go for the shorter cut. That's nice of you to consider a generous gesture.

Well, you may not believe this but I have seen it work. Try rubbing in some garlic (just with the cloves or juiced) for some time. I know a guy who had gone almost completely bald and he did make his hair come back. I don't know how this works or why, and I can guarantee it is going to be smelly but just try it for a period, and see what happens. Hair does not start to grow automatically though. It starts off like a gentle down, more like babies' hair but gradually it gets stronger.
